Re: BOOKS! BOOKS!
I didn't forget it, they didn't have it! Plus my arms weren't going to bear any more weight as I was walking out of the library, which is why I haven't those other three.

Re: BOOKS! BOOKS!
I am no longer allowed to borrow books for fun.
So now I am reading books for my English classes next year, or at least the ones I can find in the library. That would be:
- Pigs In Heaven - Barbara Kingsolver [just 10 words in and I already highly UNrecommend it; three chapters in and my opinion hasn't changed]
- Frankenstein - Mary Shelley [haven't read yet]
- Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen [sounds girly, frankly, and I wouldn't like that, but I have to read it anyway]
- Macbeth - Shakespeare [read, pretty good, fun king-killing]
- And Then There Were None - Agatha Cristie [read, pretty good, cool mystery serial-killing]
The last two I know are okay, and I sorta like. But that's because we read Macbeth with Mrs. Daniels in 6th grade, And Then There Were None with Ms. Brogley / Mrs. Work in 7th grade, and this is an advanced-for-12th-grade [PALCS] class. Pathetic.
[psst, I think this topic should be under Artistic Flavor, but I suppose that's up to the moderators.]

Re: BOOKS! BOOKS!
I read Macbeth this year. Theoretically, we were going to read Frankenstein (we didn't have time ) and I read And Then There Were None (to Mrs. G's dismay b/c we're going to read it next year) great book!
why do you thinks books should be under artistic flavor and not general?

Re: BOOKS! BOOKS!
I just think it's safe to think that books are written art.
Still on topic, I'm also reading the Hobbit before I read the second part of the first book [technically, I think] of The Lord Of The Rings.

Re: BOOKS! BOOKS!
Anyway, back on topic- I finished Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson a couple of days ago. It was one of Neal Stephenson's earlier books, before he had developed his distinctive (and long-winded) writing style. It was a fairly good and exiting book, but it was much more generic (and much shorter) than his other books that I have read.

Ahem. Pick up a phonebook, or a book on computer coding, and tell me if it is a work of art.
I was referring to nonfiction.

You were named after a book? Whoah! That's so cool

Re: BOOKS! BOOKS!
Well, just the main character. I finished the book yesterday, and would highly recommend it, especially to aspiring artists (Jay, Ben, Marina).
Re: BOOKS! BOOKS!
I wouldn't consider myself an aspiring artist, but i'll look into it

Re: BOOKS! BOOKS!
Hi everyone-- I am currently reading- The Lost Conspiracy, Bone Shaker, and Starless night. Some other good books are: Dave Barry, Agatha Christie, Garth Nix, Bone, Farenheit 451, and Raymond Chandler. A funny read is Dave Barry's take on Twilight called Fangs of Endearment.

Re: BOOKS! BOOKS!
Just read Terminal World, a scifi by Alastair Reynolds. One of his better books; I recommend it.
In addition, Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson, also a good read.

Re: BOOKS! BOOKS!
picked up new books from the library. recently sped through The Angel Experiment (Maximum Ride) [re-reading it], returned it, now halfway through School's Out -- Forever (Maximum Ride) [also re-reading], and a bit into my summer reading: The Once And Future King. Not an awful book, but read it when you feel really bored. Yeah. Summer Reading. I've also taken out The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy [compilation of the entire series] on a complete whim. It's big. They all are, really, but yeah.

Re: BOOKS! BOOKS!
No, that's not a terrible book. Along other sci-fi books I've read on a scale of 1 to 10, I'll say that Ender's Game rates a 6. Not that bad, really, considering Fahrenheit 451 could barely make a 2 on my scale.
