The programs are lego digital designer and bricksmith.
Here's another.
Though you do get infinite pieces, it's very hard to do advanced building techniques with these programs. Even with Lego digital designer, which is the better of the two, it is much harder to design things.

In digital designer I find it is really hard to position your bricks the way you want them.

A fuchikoma type mech...thing. I never finished it, currently it's just the legs and an attempt at a cockpit.
