Re: Music Discussion
Hmm. And amazingly enough, I do like Lady Gaga (shoot me). I go based on voice, and she's got a pretty good voice! But there are some songs of hers that are yucky and annoying. I like Alejandro. And their duet was awesome.
Re: Music Discussion
Linkin Park does not really do rap - it has elements of rap, but is not really rap. I that music like that is classified as hip-hop (which I do like )GoodUsername wrote:IzNotSpontaneous wrote:is there rap that has guitars and guitar solos in it? what a mockery to guitars
I'm am against pop, especially the type that sounds like techno and has all the random voice distortion stuff
There are a lot of genres of music I don't like, if you can't tell!
Umm, well, sorta. It's like rap-rock and switches back and forth. I heard a song like that only once before and it was kinda cool.
Oh, and also, I do like Leave Out All The Rest. That's not rap. You should hear what rap they call pop.

Re: Music Discussion
Yes, Linkin Park is more hip-hop than rap. Definitely more tolerable.

Re: Music Discussion
There's a cool song called Lay Me Down by Dirty Heads and the verses sound a bit rap-ish; not really, but sorta. Really cool, though. I actually love it.
Re: Music Discussion
It is Dirty Heads with Rome. I have listened to songs that are only by Dirty Heads and they are a lot different (I don't like them )GoodUsername wrote:There's a cool song called Lay Me Down by Dirty Heads and the verses sound a bit rap-ish; not really, but sorta. Re: Music Discussion
Oh yes; that's true -- with Rome. Can't think of any Dirty Heads songs at the moment, but I like this one. Not what I normally like, but I think it's got a cool sound.
Re: Music Discussion
I recently discoverd a classical/modern trio called "PROJECT Trio." They're classical, as there is a flute, cello, and double bass, but their music and overall sound is far from classical. I personally just love it, especially their piece "Dr Nick"
Re: Music Discussion
I am currently listening to centerfold by J. Geils Band. Nothing too special, but I really like it

Re: Music Discussion
I had to post this:
http://www.earmilk.com/2010/06/15/gorillaz-%E2%80%93-on-melancholy-hill-video/
Awesome video for one of my favorite songs on the album.
It is really amazing the story and history Albarn and Hewlett have created for the band.
(For any clarification, the first Noodle is real, the other is a cyborg.)

Re: Music Discussion
Genres, like political parties, are stupid branding that automatically sends people pitting against another. Listen to what sounds good, don't get caught up in what's what and who's who. Listen to sound, and enjoy it.
Cheers, mates.

Re: Music Discussion
Good thinking.
And true, I think. I've been listening to Linkin' Park, although I cannot stand most music of their genres.
There's always an exception.

Re: Music Discussion
Lately I've been listening to music that falls into the genres of grunge, ska, punk, and some alt rock/ indie bands such as:
The Cat Empire (Jazz/ Ska/ Latin)
Catch 22 (Ska)
Streetlight Manifesto (Ska/ Punk)
The Hives (Garage Rock w/ some Punk)
Tokyo Police Club (Alt Rock, kinda indie)
Smashing Pumpkins (Grunge Rock)
That's all for now, I listen to what sounds good, so as a result I listen to a wide variety of music.

Re: Music Discussion
Recently, I have been listening to a lot of progressive fingerstyle acoustic; stuff like Erik Mongrain, Michael Hedges, Trace Bundy, and Kaki King.
Some of the best guitar today is done in this style, it is really amazing to listen to.
