Music Discussion
The topic title explains it all, really. Post your favorite styles/genres of music! Mine varies greatly, but perhaps I will list my personal arsenal of genres after you all post yours.
Merged with the other music threads. This now includes bands, genres, and songs. - Jon

Re: Music Discussion
although Classical music is mostly my style, I've come to really love the more modern types of rock. i think country is my fave [although grooveshark for some reason said the genre was pop it really sounded country to me] and 70's glam rock is awesome. i mean, the costumes were as insane as i am.

Re: Music Discussion
All my favorites are oldies, but I like pretty much everything except for rap, classic music, and muzak.

Re: Music Discussion
Marina, you are a totally cool for liking the oldies.
Jay, you seem to take a liking to Christian music!
Felicia, I listen to very little classical. It all begins to sound the same. The classical I like is the stuff that becomes really expressive. I do, however, mixing classical styles and modern styles together.
Ian, that's good to have weird tastes. My tastes are very obscure and weird as well.
Myself? I don't have quite a specific genre of music that I particularly fancy. What I love in a band/artist/musical group is a mix of different styles and flavours.
Some genres to put out there:
Jazz, acid jazz, experimental, psychadelic, progressive, space rock, post rock, [some] indie, classic rock, oldies, electronica, and many more...
Hip-hop is great when it speaks about deeper things than just getting crunk in the club. Rap used to be cool, but now it's gone to the dogs. Metal is rubbish.

What Are You Listening To?
if your iPod is on, you're on Pandora/Grooveshark/Last.fm, or the radio is playing, post what you're listening to!
[try to abstain from having two or more consecutive posts unless the topic dies]
so... i'm on grooveshark [because that's the only place i listen to the stuff i want] right now [yes at 1:30 AM] listening to:

Re: Music Discussion
I agree about metal, cept linkin park. i <3 linkin park's music. And Fort Minor could be considered rap or hip-hop, but it has nothing about poppin bottles in the club, it's like meaningful and stuff. yeah... and some people think linkin park is emo, and they might be, but whatev. I don't even consider them metal, their more of hiphop influenced rock. again, whatev.

In griffins list, i kind of like space rock, maybe psychadelic, definitely classic rock.
And Griffin, if you want to hear some rap that not about getting crunk in the club, check out KJ-52, G.R.I.T.S, and other christian rap.

Re: Music Discussion
Nope. You should hear some of it.
BTW, Christian music is not all religious. Some of it is, but the entire genre is based upon wholefullness, not badness or anything that bands sing about now. Essentially, Christian bands try to have positive ideas, not negative ideas.

Re: Music Discussion
Agreements with Jay about christian music. And I've heard some pretty hardcore christian rap, that sounds like the rap thats probably the worst, but, alas, it is chrisitan. *rack brain* i forget who it was, but I will tell everyone later. Pce!
