I'm testing Linkin Park. Generally I'm averse to their rap-rock, but I find Somewhere I Belong rather catchy, and I'm hoping that I can integrate Leave Out All The Rest into my memory by the end of the summer.

I do listen to 104.5, but I heard those songs on the Slacker Web Radio Player (like Pandora but better)

Megan and I have a sick addiction/obsession with Radio 104.5... here are some bands I probably would never have even known (or fully appreciated, even if I did know them) if we didn't listen to it constantly.

Alice in Chains
Jane's Addiction
Nirvana (knew them, just never really knew many songs)
Metric
Weezer
Phoenix
Talking Heads
Pearl Jam
Death Cab for Cutie
Red Hot Chili Peppers (knew them, but not really more than one song)
Civil Twilight
30 Seconds to Mars
Muse
The Killers
Rise Against
Linkin Park

Then there's the bands I already loved that they play (Greenday, U2, Paramore, etc.)...

I used to listen to some 104.5, but eventually my ears felt like they were going to bleed because I could hardly take it anymore, so... yeah, i switched back to my adult contemporary station [101.1].

Oh, i'm listening to some Linkin Park. Did I already mention that?

Well, it was more of these-songs-repeat-too-much-and-it-hurts-my-head kind of thing. Plus we play 92.5 in the car. Yeah, country.

Well, it's an online radio station, not a music playing service, so it doesn't do requests, but you can completely customize a station to play more than one artist you like, and it's not blocked for me (grooveshark is), so it's good enough.

IMO it's better because it doesn't use flash, and I have decided to boycott flash in all cases save online games to assist Apple in their war against Adobe.

It's still somehow relavant because Apple is in a war with Adobe and Grooveshark runs on Adobe and Grooveshark plays music and is where a lot of us listens to music from.

But back on topic - I'll admit that I'm building a toleration to rap, thank you very much, Linkin Park [and the CSI episode named after one of your very awesome songs, Leave Out All The Rest.]

In my opinion there is some rap that is tolerable, although I still hate it, but most rap is painful. Its not music, its people talking in rhythm Rolling Eyes but that's my opinion, just like death metal isn't music Laughing

It depends on your definition of rap. To me, most rap is yucky unless it has some real good vocals (not talking) to back it up or a great guitar solo. Or something. I'm amazed at what is defined as pop these days. If "OMG" is pop (wouldn't recommend listening to it), I'm taking that genre (modern pop anyway) off my "I Like it List".

is there rap that has guitars and guitar solos in it? Puzzled what a mockery to guitars Laughing

I'm am against pop, especially the type that sounds like techno and has all the random voice distortion stuff Dead

There are a lot of genres of music I don't like, if you can't tell!

pretty much the only thing that I don't like is country, and the really popular "omg fangirl" type stuff (aka Jonas Bros., Hannah Montana, etc...)

I'm not a fan of country either, but my sister is. She loves country. It gets annoying when she blasts country music from her room

Umm, well, sorta. It's like rap-rock and switches back and forth. I heard a song like that only once before and it was kinda cool.

Oh, and also, I do like Leave Out All The Rest. That's not rap. You should hear what rap they call pop.

Well pop is a really, REALLY broad genre. You're going to have to specify. For example, Elton John's main genre is pop. So is Lady Gaga's. They sound NOTHING alike. [Even though their duet at the Grammy's was so holy crap worthy awesome.]

Yes, Leave Out All The Rest is a good song! Very Happy

I think I've just grown a great tolerence to country because apparently my mom loves it. So weird.
